Mumbai: Mumbai Police detained two men following a security scare at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled event in the city. One of the men, identified as 24-year-old Rohan Parekh, allegedly posed as a senior official of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and attempted to enter a restricted area using a fake PMO identity card. Security personnel became suspicious of the credentials during pre-event checks and subsequently detained him for questioning.

Parekh was reportedly accompanied by a man described as his bodyguard. A firearm was recovered from the bodyguard during the security checks. Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged impersonation and attempted entry into the high-security zone. The incident came as security arrangements were intensified in BKC for Prime Minister Modi’s scheduled participation in the Global Fintech Fest. Security agencies, including local police and central security personnel, were conducting heightened checks around the venue.
The Mumbai Crime Branch is investigating the case and examining the motive behind the use of the fake identity card. Authorities are also verifying the circumstances under which the firearm was carried into the area. According to police, the recovered weapon was licensed. The investigation is continuing to determine the exact circumstances of the incident and whether the suspects had any connection with the Prime Minister’s visit.
