The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Monday presented computers and other electronic devices before a Fast Track Court in connection with the case related to the death of Assam’s music icon Zubeen Garg, marking a significant step in the ongoing judicial proceedings.
Sources linked to the investigation said the electronic devices contain a substantial portion of the digital evidence referenced in the chargesheet submitted by the SIT. The materials reportedly include videos, photographs and other electronic records collected during the course of the probe.
Investigators are understood to have recovered several photographs and videos connected to events that took place in Singapore. According to sources, some of these materials had not previously surfaced in the public domain and were obtained during the investigation.
The digital devices are believed to contain supporting data related to the visual evidence annexed with the chargesheet. Sources further indicated that analysis of these records helped investigators gather crucial information concerning the final phase of the events under scrutiny.
The computers and other electronic materials were produced before the court earlier in the day as part of the evidentiary process, while proceedings in the case continue.
Meanwhile, Shyamkanu Mahanta, one of the principal accused in the case, has approached the Supreme Court seeking bail after his application was rejected by the Gauhati High Court.
Reports said Mahanta moved the apex court after failing to obtain relief from the High Court. The matter has been scheduled for hearing before the Supreme Court on Tuesday.
