Three Die While Cleaning Septic Tank in Assam’s Goalpara, One Critical

Goalpara, May 29: A tragic incident in Assam’s Goalpara district claimed the lives of three people after they reportedly entered a septic tank at an under-construction toilet facility in Goraimari. Another individual remains in critical condition and is undergoing treatment at a hospital.

According to reports, the victims had entered the septic tank during ongoing construction work when they allegedly became unconscious due to toxic gases trapped inside the chamber. Preliminary suspicion suggests that inhalation of poisonous gases caused severe breathing difficulties, leading to the fatal accident.

The deceased have been identified as Jochok Rabha, the owner of the house, Krishna Ray and Dilip Das. Bajpayee Rabha, who was also involved in the incident, was rescued in critical condition and admitted to hospital for treatment.

Police personnel reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and recovered the bodies. The deceased were later sent to Nidhinuram Rajbongshi Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination.

The incident has triggered shock across the area and raised concerns regarding the absence of safety precautions during septic tank cleaning and construction-related operations.
