Udalguri–Sonitpur, May 3: A seven-day recitation of the Shrimad Bhagavata Mahapurana commenced in Orang in Udalguri district, drawing devotees to a spiritual gathering marked by traditional rituals and discourses.
The event, organised at the Orang VCDC auditorium premises under the 47 No. Mazbat Legislative Assembly constituency, began on May 3 and was scheduled to continue until May 10. The inaugural proceedings witnessed the ceremonial hoisting of the Bhagavata flag by Charan Boro, who also attended the programme and offered his blessings.
The opening day featured customary rituals, including mandap pujan, followed by a Kalash Yatra procession. As part of the Vedic observances, sacred water was collected from the Pachnoi River.
The spiritual discourse during the Mahayajna was led by noted scholar Pandit Satyanath Agastidev, who served as the chief speaker for the event. Organisers stated that the programme aimed to promote spiritual awareness and cultural values through the recitation and interpretation of sacred texts.
