Tamang, Scindia Discuss Development Push for Sikkim in Delhi

Gangtok, April 9: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang held a meeting with Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in New Delhi on April 9, where the two leaders discussed key developmental priorities aimed at accelerating growth in Sikkim.

During the meeting, both leaders deliberated on crucial sectors including tourism, agriculture, and infrastructure, while also reviewing ongoing and upcoming development projects in the state. The discussions reflected a shared commitment between the Centre and the state government to promote sustainable and inclusive development.

Tamang expressed gratitude for the continued support of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) and outlined his government’s vision for holistic progress, highlighting initiatives such as organic farming, youth empowerment, and effective implementation of welfare and infrastructure schemes.

Emphasising Sikkim’s potential as a major tourist destination, the Chief Minister invited Scindia to visit the state and experience its natural beauty, as part of efforts to boost tourism-driven economic growth.

Scindia, in turn, assured full support to Sikkim’s developmental initiatives and reiterated the Centre’s commitment to strengthening infrastructure and connectivity across the Northeast.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both leaders expressing optimism about enhanced collaboration for the overall development of Sikkim and the wider region.
