Tezpur: Sonitpur District Sports Office hosted a ceremonial programme to launch the commencement of regular sports coaching at Tezpur Stadium, Hazarapar, in the disciplines of Athletics, Football, Basketball and Volleyball. Facilities for Walking and Jogging have also been made available at the stadium on Monday. The coaching programme is an initiative of the Board of Sports of Assam in collaboration with the Office of the District Sports Officer, Sonitpur, Tezpur, with the objective of providing systematic sports coaching and promoting sports activities among aspiring athletes and the general public.The regular coaching programme will commence from 1st September 2026, and the admission/registration process has already commenced.

On the occasion, Prithiraj Rava, MLA, Tezpur graced the programme as the Chief Guest and formally inaugurated the coaching programme. The programme was also attended by senior officials of the District Administration, Pranjal Dehingia, District Sports Officer, President and office bearers of Tezpur District Sports Association (TDSA), representatives of various Sports Associations, prominent sportspersons, coaches, sports enthusiasts and other distinguished guests. The commencement of regular coaching at Tezpur Stadium marks an important step towards strengthening the sports ecosystem in Sonitpur District and providing better opportunities and facilities for budding sportspersons.
