Bajali: Assam’s Manas National Park will reopen to tourists on October 2 for the 2026-27 tourism season, welcoming domestic and international visitors following the annual monsoon closure. A special programme will be organised at the park’s second main entrance on October 2 to mark the reopening, according to Nitish Boro, Ranger of the Bansbari Range. Tourism activities are being resumed with the end of the monsoon season.

The park will remain open until further orders in accordance with the provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, and the Assam Wildlife (Protection) Rules, 1997. However, different ranges will observe their respective weekly closure days. The Bhuyanpara Range will remain closed on Thursdays, Bansbari on Tuesdays, Panbari on Fridays and Kuklung on Wednesdays.
Located in western Assam, Manas is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Tiger Reserve and Biosphere Reserve known for its rich biodiversity, scenic landscapes and endangered wildlife. The Assam Forest Department lists more than 22 endangered species in the park, along with over 500 bird species. The reopening is expected to provide a fresh boost to wildlife tourism in Assam ahead of the peak tourist season, while offering visitors opportunities to explore one of the state’s most important natural heritage sites.
